Veggie Tales

Last week in a Bible study, we talked about how the Bible is often violent, or just unpleasant. But, we also noticed that a lot of times we ignore that stuff for those reasons. Sometimes there can be some good stuff in the unpleasant parts of Scripture.

So for my object lesson, we're going to look at David and Goliath as done by the Veggie Tales. The idea here is to compare the Veggie Tales story to the Bible story and see what they've missed. Then we'll find good stuff in what they've missed.

I had to watch the thing while I transferred it from VHS to DVD, and it was actually the first Veggie Tales I've seen. Here's what I learned:
  • Cute animation. Cute voices. But do little kids understand the language here? Because there were a lot of words the vegetables used that I just couldn't hear.
  • The creators made a pretty blatant reference to Monty Python. Awesome.
  • Little people can do big things.
